Every student in India dreams of getting admission to either IIT or NIT. After IIT, NIT is considered as one of the most reputed institutions for technology for engineering students. After appearing for JEE mains students can get admission in NITs depending on their rank and eligibility.

About NITs

It is an abbreviation of the National institute of technologies, famous nationwide for engineering and other courses. Currently, there are 31 NITs all around the nation. These are the autonomous technical universities and come under the jurisdiction of ME (ministry of education), Government of India, and have been governed by NIT under the Science Education and Research Act, 2007. The ranking of NITs is decided by NIRF every year depending on various factors. There are overall 23000 + seats available for UG programs and 13000+ seats in PG programs.

  • Students should have passed the 10+2 exam with decent marks or a qualifying exam just two years before admission.

  • A minimum of aggregate 75% marks is required for general category candidates and that of 65% for SC/ST/ PWD candidates.
  • Registration for JEE main

After checking the eligibility the second step to get admission is registering for the JEE main exam. To do so, candidates have to fill up the application form of JEE main on its releasing time before the final date. The registration procedure will be fully in online mode.    

The application for JEE main is taken twice a year. Candidates can take part in both rounds if they want to do so to clear the exam or to improve their marks than last time.   • Seat allocation and final admission process

After the successful JoSAA counselling registration,  the seat will be allocated to the candidates depending on their category and their rank as decided by the institutions.  Each NIT sets its opening rank as well as closing rank for admission. Candidates whose rank falls under the NIT’s open and closing rank will get a chance to take part in the admission process. 

To get admission to the top NITs candidates must have a decent All India Rank depending on the ranking of NITs and courses as well as branches offered by them. If you want to take admission into the top desired NIT then you have to score more than 250 marks in general. 

Once you get selected depending on the rank, the institution will allocate the seat in your desired branch. After seat allocation, you have to visit the institution for the final admission formalities.

  • Document Verification Process

The final step towards the desired NITs is the document verification process, verified by the authority of the institutions in their institute. Candidates have to appear in the institution for the verification of documents. The date and time will be informed to the candidates by the authorities.

 At the allotted date and time, candidates have to reach there with all the necessary documents such as Academic results, Identity proof, Filled registration form for JEE Main, JEE Main admit card, JEE Main result, Seat allocation details, etc along with.
