Bimbisara is directed by debutant Mallidi Vasishta and produced by N.T.R Arts. The critically acclaimed fantasy action drama stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Catherine Tresa, Samyuktha Menon, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles and Vivan Bhatena, Vennela Kishore, Srinivasa Reddy, and others in secondary roles. The movie will be available on ZEE5 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, starting on October 21, 2022.
The story begins with the monarch of the Trigartala empire, in the year 500 BCE. He is a vicious egomaniac with no bounds to his aggressive acts. However, his ego trip is cut short when his exiled twin brother Devadatta ambushes him and teleports him to the modern era through a magical mirror. Subramanya Sastri and godman Kethu benefit from Bimbisara‘s arrival since they are after the Ayurvedic book Dhanwanthari. The book is carefully sealed in a treasure vault that only the king can open.
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram
Kalyan Ram plays a double role in the movie. One is the cruel, selfish, and self-centered king of the Trigartala empire, who doesn’t care about a soul. The second character is the king’s exiled twin brother Devadatta. In the movie, the king transforms significantly after being teleported to the modern era via a mirror. The film features Kalyan Ram in hard-hitting action scenes, transitioning from armor into a smart suit.
Samyukhta is an Indian actress who made her debut in 2015 with the Malayalam film Popcorn. She has predominantly worked in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada movies. Menon is among the film’s leading cast and portrays the role of Vyjayanthi, a senior police officer.
Catherine is known for her contributions to films like Madras, Nene Raju Nene Mantri, and Chammak Challo. In the film, she plays the role of princess Ira, who is held captive by King Bimbisara. She made her acting debut in the Kannada movie IPS Shankar in 2010. Tresa has also been nominated four times for the Filmfare Awards South.
Prakash is a well-known actor who has worked in many Bollywood and South Indian films. Known for his powerful performances and commanding onscreen presence, the actor will now play the role of Vishwanandan Varma in the Bimbisara.
Vivan plays the antagonist, Subramanya Shastry, a modern-day doctor who desperately wants a book on Ayurveda called Dhanwantari. The book contains an ‘antidote’ for a new age virus called ‘D-40’ which has the ability to kill the virus and cure a patient. The Dhanwantari is kept in the king’s treasure cave, so when he time travels to the modern world, the Vivan’s character tries to take advantage of the opportunity.
Srinivasa is a well-known comedy actor in the South film industry. He gave brilliant performances in movies in a comic role. In this action drama, he plays the part of the king’s lackey, Zubeda, and is hilarious with his caricaturish mustache.
Vennela’s real name is Bokkala Kishore Kumar. He was given the name “Vennela” after his first feature film Vennela. The actor portrayed comic roles in many films and won two Nandi Awards, two SIIMA Awards, and one IIFA Utsavam Award. Vennela portrays the character of a modern-day police constable Prasadam.
The Bollywood actress made her acting debut in the film Loveyatri. Warina will now be seen as a dancer in the movie. She does an item number on the song, “Gulebakavali.”
